Wire blocks with an "SP" designation have purpose designed narrow sheaves made of Nylatron®, highly resistant to wear and appropriate for use with wire rope. These are common for halyard, vang, and backstay applications. Exit and sheave boxes allow lines to be led through decks, bulkheads, or spars with minimal friction or chafing.
