Team Ronstan's Aina Bauza Sets Transatlantic Record
Aboard her Mini Transat 650, Mallorca-based sailor Aina Bauza has set a new singlehanded monohull record for the transatlantic journey from Cádiz (Spain) to the Bahamas.
Aina completed her record-setting journey on April 4, 2024, travelling 3,884 nautical miles in 30 days, 22 hours, and 34 minutes. The accomplishment is soon to be certified by the World Sailing Speed Record Council (WSSRC), the organisation responsible for World Sailing Records.
A month at sea, alone and unassisted in a 21' (6.5m) boat is not for the faint of heart: dry sails turned into a bed, a bucket as a bathroom, freeze-dried food, and rigorous training to sleep only short 20-minute naps for weeks. All the while, captaining a performance offshore raceboat capable of 20+ kts of boatspeed, with a six sail inventory and 150m² sail area.
From all of us at Ronstan: congratulations on your accomplishment Aina, we're proud to support such a talented sailor and can't wait to see what the future holds!
