Mat Belcher is the most successful sailor currently in the Australian Sailing Team. He now has an Olympic gold to add to the tally including 2021, (2012) and silver (2016) medal to his name and numerous World Championships, including four with current crew, Will Ryan. He's a very gifted sailor having collected 12 global medals and 10 titles along with numerous awards and accolades such as World Sailor of the Year. Mat grew up on the Gold Coast, and had always been surrounded by water. At six years old he started sailing in a 10-year-old wooden Sabot tied to the back of his parent’s boat, then as a nine year-old, Belcher competed in his first race at the Southport Yacht Club in 1989. He is calm, balanced and very good at making decisions under pressure. Learn more about this legend and pick up on what his favourite Ronstan gear is, including the Series 15 Blocks.
Will Ryan has raced since the age of 13 and has been representing Australia for over a decade, joining forces with Mat Belcher in 2012 to form a formidable pairing. The pair found immediate success winning the 2013 World Championship and at Rio 2016 Will made his Olympic debut. The partnership proved a continuing success, with them winning the silver medal and now a Gold. Will also tells us a little about himself in the below video including his favourite items - is it the same as Mat's?
