Ashby wins again!
Five times A-Class Catamaran World Champion Australian Glenn Ashby has comfortably won the 2009 A-Cat World Championships for the sixth time.
Held on Lake Macquarie the 2009 A-Class Catamaran World Championship fleet was one of the best in recent years, with a host of World Champions, Olympic Medalists and America’s Cup sailors taking up the challenge. The fleet consisted of 95 to 100 boats, with sailors from 12 countries competing.
The Beijing Tornado class Olympic Silver medalist provided some tough competition winning 6 out of the 9 races. Australia's 1996 Olympic Tornado Bronze medalist Andrew Landenberger finished third overall behind fellow Australian Steve Brewin in second.
The top ten also included Manuel Calavia (ESP), Bob Baier (GER), James Spithill (AUS), Luc Du Bois (SUI) Scott Anderson (AUS), Dave Brewer (AUS) and Brad Collett (AUS).
